Civil Defense Warns of Potential Flood Risks Amid Thunderstorm Forecasts Across Kingdom


Riyadh: The General Directorate of Civil Defense has issued a warning to the public, urging them to exercise caution, remain in secure locations, and avoid flood-prone and valley areas. The public is also advised to refrain from swimming and to follow instructions disseminated through media and social platforms.



According to Saudi Press Agency, this warning comes in the wake of forecasts from the National Center for Meteorology (NCM) predicting continued thunderstorms across the Kingdom until Friday. The affected regions include Makkah, Riyadh, Madinah, Hail, Qassim, Northern Borders, Eastern, Tabuk, Al-Jouf, Al-Baha, Aseer, Jazan, and Najran, all of which are expected to experience moderate to heavy rainfall.



The Civil Defense has highlighted the potential for flash floods, hail, and active downdrafts, which could lead to dust and sand disturbances. The public is urged to stay informed and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety during these weather conditions.
