Riyadh: The General Directorate of Civil Defense has urged the installation of smoke detectors in residential and commercial buildings as an important measure to enhance public safety, reduce fire risks, and protect lives and property through early detection.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the directorate explained that smoke detectors play a vital role in limiting fire damage by emitting high-decibel alerts that can awaken sleeping occupants, warn of accumulating smoke, and help identify the location of a fire. These functions contribute to faster response times and facilitate rapid control of incidents.
The General Directorate of Civil Defense also urged the public to adhere to official safety guidelines. In emergencies, residents in Makkah, Madinah, Riyadh, and Eastern regions should call 911, while those in all other regions of the Kingdom should dial 998.
