Bangkok: The Central Islamic Council of Thailand (CICOT) awarded Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance Sheikh Dr. Abdullatif Al Alsheikh the First-Class Medal for Influential Global Islamic Personality of 2024. The medal was bestowed by Bangkok Islamic Affairs Committee president Arun Boonchom during a ceremony held in Thailand today. The event coincided with the official visit of Al Sheikh to Thailand, where he is leading the Kingdom's delegation participating in the 3rd ASEAN Summit. The ceremony was attended by several ministers, political and religious figures, and heads of councils, associations, and religious institutions. According to Saudi Press Agency, the medal was awarded to Al Alsheikh in recognition of his contributions to serving Islam and Muslims, promoting the values of moderation and tolerance, and combating hate speech and extremism. Al Alsheikh expressed his gratitude and appreciation to Sheikhul Islam in Thailand for his efforts in spreading noble Islamic values and promoting a culture of coexistence. He also praised the role played by CICOT in Thailand in serving the Muslim community and promoting moderation and balance.
