Riyadh: The Embassies of Canada, Mexico, and the United States in Saudi Arabia, representing the host countries of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, highlighted football's unique ability to unite people, strengthen friendships, and foster cultural ties across borders. According to Saudi Press Agency, in a joint press release issued yesterday, the three diplomatic missions said the World Cup is more than a sporting event, describing it as a global celebration that enables nations to showcase their cultures, welcome visitors, and create lasting memories. They also praised the Kingdom's deep-rooted passion for football and congratulated Saudi Arabia as it prepares to host the 2034 World Cup. Canadian Ambassador to the Kingdom Jean-Philippe Linteau said the success of the tournament demonstrated what can be achieved through cooperation and a shared vision-values that continue to shape Canada's partnership with the Kingdom in advancing economic cooperation and innovation. Chargé d'Affaires of the Embassy of Mexico in th e Kingdom Dr. Guillermo Gutiérrez Nieto said Mexico's co-hosting of the tournament reflected the spirit of cooperation, openness, and mutual respect that defines North America. He wished the Kingdom every success in its preparations to host the world in 2034. Chargé d'Affaires of the U.S. Embassy in the Kingdom Alison Dilworth said they were pleased to celebrate the occasion alongside the Kingdom, highlighting the Saudi people's passion for football. She added that, as Saudi Arabia prepares to host the world in 2034, the United States looks forward to sharing its experience and further strengthening ties between the two peoples through sport and cultural exchange.
