Buraidah: The Buraidah Dates Carnival is underway with events running from early August until October 14, aiming to boost sales, exports, and marketing of Saudi dates. Known as the world's largest date festival, the event holds a Guinness World Record title and attracts a wide audience, including local and international farmers, traders, tourists, and palm enthusiasts.
According to Saudi Press Agency, sales from the previous carnival exceeded SAR3.2 billion. Qassim Region, which hosts the festival, is a leader in date exports, averaging 578,000 tons annually, and is home to 11.2 million palm trees.
The 75-day carnival is organized by the National Center for Palms and Dates and the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, with supervision from the Qassim Principality. It features a variety of awareness and entertainment activities for farmers, merchants, and the general public.
