New delhi: The 18th BRICS Summit concluded yesterday in New Delhi under India's chairmanship, addressing global governance, trade, development, emerging technologies, sustainability, health, and international security. Saudi Arabia participated as an invited nation, represented by Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah on behalf of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister. According to Saudi Press Agency, BRICS leaders adopted the New Delhi Declaration, which reaffirmed support for reforming the United Nations ecosystem and international financial institutions. The declaration emphasized strengthening cooperation in trade, investment, and sustainable development, while opposing unilateral economic and trade measures that hinder international trade. It also expressed concern over escalating tensions in the Middle East, calling for restraint, civilian protection, and peaceful dispute resolution through dialogue and diplomacy . Summit outcomes included initiatives on sustainability, clean energy, climate adaptation, food security, digital agriculture, sustainable cities, and smart infrastructure. India's Ministry of External Affairs highlighted that its BRICS presidency produced practical outcomes, including frameworks, action plans, networks, platforms, and guidelines across various areas of cooperation. These efforts underscore the group's commitment to moving beyond political statements toward concrete programs and initiatives. The summit concluded with India handing over the rotating BRICS presidency to China, which will host the 19th BRICS Summit as the group enters its third decade with an expanded membership and agenda.
