Beirut: House Speaker Nabih Berri held several key meetings and diplomatic engagements at the Second Presidency headquarters in Ain al-Tineh. His agenda included discussions with Justice Minister Adel Nassar on the latest political developments and legislative matters.
According to National News Agency - Lebanon, Speaker Berri also received Ivonne Abdel Baki, an Ecuadorian diplomat of Lebanese origin and candidate for the UN Secretary-General position. During their meeting, Berri expressed his support for her candidacy, highlighting the significant role Lebanon has played as a founding member of the United Nations.
Additionally, Speaker Berri welcomed Mazen Sweid, Chairman of the Banking Control Commission, who visited to extend holiday and New Year's greetings. The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss the general situation and issues related to the commission's work.
In another matter, Speaker Berri sent a cable to Grand Ayatollah Al-Sayyid Ali Al-Sistani, expressing his condolences on the passing of Ayatollah Sayyid Hadi al-Sistani, the Grand Ayatollah's brother.
