Ballasmer: A Tourist Destination Clad in Juniper and Embraced by Fog

Riyadh: Ballasmer, located approximately 100 kilometers north of Abha, is a prominent tourist destination in Aseer Region. It boasts stunning mountainous terrain, dense juniper forests, and cool, misty weather that attracts summer visitors.



According to Saudi Press Agency, Ballasmer’s high mountains, some exceeding 2,800 meters, lend a unique character to the area. Here, dense forests meet low-lying clouds, reflecting the beautiful mountainous nature of Saudi Arabia’s south. These highlands feature several major parks, including Sha’f Al-Khathim, known for its lush vegetation and misty ambiance; Al-Obaid, nestled among juniper-covered mountains with scenic trails and expansive views; and Al-Harrous, a family favorite offering green spaces and seating areas along valleys. Additionally, Sha’f Ballasmer Al-Jadhee combines lush greenery with panoramic views.



Ballasmer’s villages, with their traditional mountain architecture, diverse environment, and authentic customs, preserve the region’s cultural identity. During the summer, Ballasmer hosts tourism and community events to boost visitor activity, with authorities focused on developing infrastructure to maintain its natural appeal. It also annually hosts festivals to support local farmers, market their produce, and highlight its historical agricultural identity.
