Makkah: In partnership with the Royal Commission for Makkah City and Holy Sites, the Balady+ app has introduced an integrated digital experience for the Hajj season 1446 AH. This initiative aims to assist pilgrims by providing accurate, interactive maps that reflect real-time conditions and improve municipal service quality across the holy sites.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the Balady+ app has been developed through national efforts and offers an interactive 3D map experience. This feature provides accurate, up-to-date local content that aligns with the dynamic nature of cities. The app is supported by smart mobility services that offer real-time data on roads, locations, and services. This includes indoor navigation within shopping centers and alerts about speed bumps, obstacles, and road closures.
During the Hajj season, the app's team updated over 11,000 landmarks on the map. These updates include the entrances and exits of the Grand Mosque, surrounding streets, and arrival and departure routes. The updates also encompass hospitals and health centers, Red Crescent sites, drinking fountains, restrooms, and more than 160 other essential locations.
The Balady+ app also provides smart services such as reminder alerts, prayer times, and offline access to the Holy Quran. These features ensure that pilgrims can continue to benefit from the app even without an internet connection. The app is available for download through a provided link.
