Bahrain Chairs Meeting of Preparatory Committee for GCC Central Bank Governors

Manama: The fifth meeting of the Preparatory Committee of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Central Bank Governors' Committee was held today in Manama, with the participation of representatives of the member states of the preparatory committee, as well as GCC Assistant Secretary-General for Economic and Developmental Affairs Khalid bin Ali Al-Sunaidi, within the framework of the Kingdom of Bahrain's presidency of the GCC for 2026.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the meeting addressed important topics related to cooperation among the GCC states, most notably the recommendations of committees and teams concerned with payment systems in the GCC states, issues related to supervision and oversight of the banking sector in the GCC states, as well as technologies in the financial sector in the GCC states.

The committee also discussed the exchange of cybersecurity information for the banking sector and the efforts undertaken by the GCC states within the framework of combating money laundering and terrorist financing.
