Riyadh: Australia officially recognized the State of Palestine as a sovereign nation.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the announcement came in a joint statement issued by Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Minister of Foreign Affairs Penny Wong today.
The statement affirmed that the recognition reflects Australia's firm commitment to the two-state solution as the only path to peace and acknowledges the legitimate aspirations of the Palestinian people to establish their own state.
