Asian shares mostly rise

Asian shares were mostly higher on Tuesday, the Associated Press reported.

Japan’s benchmark Nikkei 225 edged up 0.2% to finish at 27,518.25. Australia’s SandP/ASX 200 jumped 1.0% to 7,034.10. South Korea’s Kospi added 0.9% to 2,430.16. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng rose nearly 1.1% to 19,773.37, while the Shanghai Composite slipped 0.2% to 3,245.81.

In energy trading, benchmark US crude added 5 cents to $72.86 a barrel in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange. It gained $3.55 to $72.81 per barrel on Monday.

Brent crude fell 21 cents to $77.91 a barrel.

In currency trading, the US dollar fell to 131.00 Japanese yen from 131.56 yen. The euro cost $1.0816, up from $1.0804.
