Aseer: The Aseer branch of the National Center for Vegetation Development and Combating Desertification (NCVC) organized a series of environmental events and initiatives to mark World Wetlands Day, observed annually on February 2.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the activities aimed to raise awareness about the importance of preserving wetland ecosystems and protecting their associated cultural heritage. As part of the initiatives, 1,000 mangrove seedlings were planted in Aseer, contributing to a national campaign to plant over 10,000 mangrove seedlings along the Kingdom's coasts across Aseer, Jazan, Makkah, Madinah, and Eastern regions.
More than 300 volunteers participated in mangrove planting, educational and awareness sessions, and coastal and wetland clean-up activities, in collaboration with government agencies, civil society organizations, and the private sector.
