Cairo: Assistant Secretary-General and Head of the Media and Communication Sector at the Arab League, Ambassador Ahmed Rashid Khattabi, reaffirmed the league's full solidarity with Palestinian media amid the ongoing Israeli war on Gaza and the occupied Palestinian territories.

According to Saudi Press Agency, Ambassador Khattabi, in a statement marking the International Day of Solidarity with Palestinian Media, highlighted that as of April, 212 Palestinian journalists had been killed and at least 400 injured, making Gaza the most perilous region globally for journalism.

Ambassador Khattabi emphasized that the day serves not only as a symbolic commemoration but also as a renewed call on the international community to support Palestinian media, especially in the face of violations by Israeli occupation forces and infringements on press freedoms. He condemned the targeting of journalists working under dangerous humanitarian conditions and harsh circumstances, similar to other unarmed civilians facing bombardment, siege, and starvation.

He reiterated the Arab League's condemnation of the Israeli occupation's crackdown on Palestinian media in all its forms and its disregard for international humanitarian law.
