Cairo: League of Arab States Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit welcomed the adoption of a roadmap to resolve the crisis in Syria's Suwayda Governorate, emphasizing the importance of preserving the country's territorial integrity.
According to Saudi Press Agency, Aboul Gheit commended Jordan's efforts, particularly those of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi, for facilitating the settlement by hosting the Amman meeting. This meeting brought together Syrian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Asaad Al-Shaibani and U.S. Special Envoy for Syria Thomas Barrack.
He stated the roadmap marks a significant step toward stabilizing the situation in southern Syria, affirming that Suwayda is an integral part of the Syrian state. Aboul Gheit expressed hope that the commitments outlined in the plan would be implemented precisely, in order to address the root causes of the crisis and prevent its recurrence.
