Arab League Calls for Integrated and Fair Management of Water Resources to Ensure Water Security

Riyadh: The Arab League has emphasized the urgent need for integrated and equitable water resource management to ensure national and regional water security. Assistant Secretary-General and Head of the Economic Affairs Sector at the Arab League, Ambassador Dr. Ali bin Ibrahim Al-Malki, underscored the importance of cross-sectoral and societal cooperation to address water challenges in the Arab world. His remarks were made in a statement by the General Secretariat of the Arab League on the occasion of Arab Water Day, observed annually on March 3. This year's theme, "Sustainable Water for a Better Water Future," highlights the need for long-term strategies to preserve and optimize water resources. According to Saudi Press Agency, Ambassador Al-Malki noted that water security remains a top priority for the Arab League, with continuous follow-up through the Housing, Water Resources, and Disaster Risk Reduction Department, which serves as the Technical Secretariat of the Arab Ministerial Water Council. The counci l convenes regularly to review policies, coordinate Arab positions, and develop strategies to address the region's growing water challenges.
