Cairo: The Arab League reaffirmed that the Palestinian cause is fundamentally a matter of both land and people, emphasizing that all attempts to displace Palestinians-whether through annexation, settlement expansion, or forced displacement-have failed over the decades and constitute clear violations of international law. The Arab League described such actions as ethnic cleansing and an attempt to liquidate the Palestinian cause.
According to Saudi Press Agency, this stance was highlighted by Arab League Assistant Secretary-General and Head of the Social Affairs Sector Ambassador Dr. Haifa Abu Ghazaleh during the opening session of the Palestine and the Role of Civil Society conference, which began today in Cairo.
“The second edition of this conference is being held under the theme Rebuilding the Social Fabric of Gaza, to assess and analyze the dire situation in Gaza after 15 months of relentless Israeli bombardment that has devastated all aspects of life,” Ambassador Dr. Abu Ghazaleh stated.
She underscored the critical role of civil society in providing essential services and contributing to Gaza’s reconstruction, stressing the need for international cooperation to facilitate aid delivery, accelerate reconstruction efforts, and reject all forms of displacement. Ambassador Dr. Abu Ghazaleh also called for urgent relief measures to support the Palestinian people and clear mechanisms to oversee the implementation of humanitarian and rebuilding plans.
