The Arab League (AL) stressed on Wednesday the need of preserving Sudan's national institutions, unity and territorial integrity. Speaking in a press release following receiving US Special Envoy for Sudan Tom Perriello, Assistant Secretary General Ambassador Hossam Zaki renewed the League's readiness of assuming its full role and being engaged in any cooperation aiming to help Sudan get out of this unprecedented crisis. The meeting touched upon the ongoing developments in Sudan and consultations on means to end this crisis, Zaki added. It also focused on preparations for meetings due in Geneva in August to reach a ceasefire, he noted. Meanwhile, Perriello reviewed efforts aiming to bring views closer together between the two parties. He emphasized keenness on consultations and coordination with the League, and listening to its assessment regarding ending the conflict. Source: Kuwait News Agency
