Riyadh: Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Assistant Secretary-General for Political and Negotiation Affairs Dr. Abdulaziz Hamad Aluwaisheg affirmed Saudi Arabia's pivotal contribution to the inaugural GCC-Central Asia Summit held in Jeddah, emphasizing the Kingdom's significant commitment to enhancing this collaboration. His remarks were made in a statement to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) on the sidelines of a seminar taking place at the GCC General Secretariat in Riyadh.
According to Saudi Press Agency, Aluwaisheg detailed that the partnership rests on a joint action plan agreed upon at the Jeddah summit covering the key areas of political, security, and economic cooperation, as well as education, health, culture, youth, and sports.
He highlighted the significant progress in strategic cooperation between the two regions, despite the lack of direct land or sea transport links. Trade volume surged tenfold in the past eight years, he noted, with increasing investments, especially in the energy and infrastructure sectors, which are priority areas for Central Asian countries.
