AlUla:Archaeological excavations and research are underway at Dadan in AlUla as part of the 2026-2027 archaeology season initiated by the Royal Commission for AlUla. The project focuses on studying historical sites with the goal of uncovering evidence that illuminates the development of ancient civilizations in northwestern Arabia.
According to Saudi Press Agency, photographs have documented the ongoing excavations at Dadan, emphasizing funerary and residential areas. This marks the second phase of the archaeological project, building on five years of research aimed at tracing the city's development and gaining insights into ancient human settlement and daily life patterns.
This season includes specialized archaeological studies and digital documentation of historical sites and findings. Saudi specialists and university students are actively participating, gaining practical experience in excavation, documentation, and archaeological analysis.
In Khaybar, research projects are examining the relationship between people and the ancient oasis over various historical periods. These projects study ancient environments, sediment records, and natural resources, while other studies track human activity from the Neolithic period through the Islamic eras.
The initiative is part of the Royal Commission for AlUla's broader efforts to support scientific research, preserve cultural heritage, and foster national expertise in archaeology and documentation. These efforts aim to deepen knowledge of the region's history and the civilizations that have succeeded one another over time.
