Almadinah Book Fair 2025 Boosts Inclusion with Sign Language Interpreters

General

Almadinah: Almadinah Book Fair 2025 has strengthened the participation of sign language interpreters in various cultural events and seminars. This move aims to enable the deaf community to interact directly with cultural and educational activities.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the Literature, Publishing and Translation Commission is behind this approach, aiming to ensure that educational content reaches all segments of society, especially people with hearing disabilities who face challenges following public events due to the lack of specialized translation services.

The dialogue seminars hosted by the fair featured the direct participation of sign language interpreters on the platform, allowing the deaf audience to follow the cultural and literary discussions within the sessions and interact with their content in a lively and effective manner.

Several sign language specialists participating in the coverage emphasized that this initiative represents an advanced step in integrating people with disabilities into public events. They praised the fair organizers' awareness and called for institutionalizing this approach to include various cultural activities in the future, both inside and outside of exhibitions.
