The Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) called for improving care for the elderly in Arab countries. To mark International Day for Older Persons, ALECSO issued a statement stressing the need to work to provide comprehensive health care and social support for the elderly, and expand training and education opportunities in geriatrics. It stressed the need to promote societal practices that guarantee the right of the elderly to a decent life that secures their needs and privacy, and encourages their contribution to sustainable development.
