Al-Mustarah Mosque: Historical Landmark Linked to Prophet’s Biography in Madinah

General

Madinah: Al-Mustarah Mosque, also known as Bani Haritha Mosque, holds significant historical importance in Madinah due to its connection to the Prophet Muhammad's biography. The mosque is reputed for being a place where the Prophet, peace be upon him, would rest and pray during his visits to the martyrs of Uhud.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the name 'Al-Mustarah' is derived from accounts by the people of Madinah, indicating that the Prophet would pause and pray there while passing by. The narrative suggests that the Prophet rested at this location while wearing two armors on his journey to Uhud. Some historians propose that the term 'Mustarah' could be more descriptive of the place rather than its official name.

The mosque is strategically located to the left of the road leading to Mount Uhud, approximately 2,420 meters away from the Prophet's Mosque. It is also around 1,560 meters from Mount Uhud to the north. Al-Mustarah Mosque is recognized as one of the historical sites where the Prophet Muhammad is believed to have prayed, making it a key architectural landmark. Efforts to preserve such historical sites in Madinah continue to ensure that the mosque remains a testament to the Prophet's biography.
