Al-khobar: Al-Khobar Governorate ranked 133rd globally in the 2026 Global Liveability Index issued by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), part of The Economist Group. The governorate advanced two places from last year's ranking, reflecting the success of development efforts and landmark projects that have enhanced quality of life and improved urban infrastructure and services.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the report highlighted Al-Khobar's progress in infrastructure, along with the continued development of its healthcare sector, which contributed to the city's improved global ranking. It also reflects the impact of development investments and major projects underway as part of the Eastern Region's urban development journey.
The index evaluates 173 cities worldwide using more than 30 indicators across key categories, including stability, healthcare, culture, environment, education, and infrastructure, to measure quality of life and the overall liveability of cities.
