Al-Jubeir Showcases Saudi Initiatives to Combat Desertification at Munich Security Conference

Munich: Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Cabinet Member, and Climate Envoy Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir participated in a dialogue session titled "Conversation on Land Restoration and Security" in Munich, Germany. The session, held in collaboration with the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) and the Adelphi Research Foundation, took place on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference 2025.

According to Saudi Press Agency, Al-Jubeir emphasized that land restoration is essential for global security and stability, highlighting the Kingdom's close cooperation with the UNCCD. As president of COP16 (Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification), Saudi Arabia has worked alongside the United Nations to address the negative repercussions of land degradation on global security and to develop practical programs and solutions in this field.

He outlined Saudi Arabia's initiatives at the local, regional, and international levels to preserve land and combat desertification, stressing the importance of international cooperation in tackling this global challenge. Al-Jubeir also engaged in discussions with attendees, answering questions about the Kingdom's environmental policies and commitments.
