Riyadh: The Arab Gulf Programme for Development (AGFUND) and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) signed two new agreements aimed at enhancing early childhood development (ECD) in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region and Morocco. This marks a significant step in their longstanding partnership of over four decades dedicated to improving the lives of children worldwide.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the first project, titled "Enhancing Inclusion and Support for Children with Disabilities in the Early Years in the GCC and the Middle East," seeks to improve access to quality early childhood education and care for children with disabilities. The project aims to ensure these children receive the necessary support for their development and well-being.
The second project, "Improving Early Childhood Services for Children in Morocco (Phase Two)," focuses on enhancing daycare services, improving preschool education, and implementing social behavior change communication strategies to promote early childhood well-being.
The agreements were signed by AGFUND Board Chairman Prince Abdulaziz bin Talal bin Abdulaziz and UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell, reinforcing the deep-rooted cooperation between the two organizations. The partnership between AGFUND and UNICEF serves as a model for international collaboration, delivering tangible results that support children and families in need worldwide.
Investing in ECD is seen as a crucial step toward building prosperous societies, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to reach their full potential. Over the past 40 years, AGFUND and UNICEF have successfully implemented more than 100 joint projects worldwide, providing essential support in health, education, and child protection. The newly signed agreements reaffirm their shared commitment to creating sustainable solutions that empower children and their communities for generations to come.
