Baghdad / NINA / -The great Egyptian artist Rajaa Al-Jeddawi died, at the age of 82, after weeks of infection with Corona virus and her stay in the Isolation Hospital in Ismailia Governorate since last May 24.
Her daughter, Amira Hassan Mukhtar, said that no date has yet been set for the burial and funeral, and the family will announce it in the coming hours.
Local sites in Egypt reported earlier that the artist Rajaa Al-Jeddawi was infected with the Corona virus, after she picked up the infection while she was offering condolences for the death of the Saudi businessman Sheikh Saleh Kamel, the husband of Egyptian artist Safaa Abu Al-Saud.
The reports circulated, that Rajaa Al-Jeddawi felt the symptoms of the virus a short time after she went to the funeral, which included a large number of media professionals, football players, artists and others.
Rajaa Al-Jeddawi was born on September 6, 1938, and she lived a period of her childhood with her aunt, actress and dancer, Tahiya Carioca, who later embodied her role in the series (Cinderella) directed by Samir Saif.
She married the late Ismaili Football Club goalkeeper Hassan Mukhtar, with whom she had a single daughter.
She is considered one of the oldest Arab female artists, and she began her career in art in parallel with the field of fashion show, and her first movie (Doaa Al-Karawan) was directed by Henri Barakat and starring Faten Hamama, Ahmed Mazhar, Zahrat Al-Ula and Amina Rizk.
She had a strong artistic relationship with comedian Adel Imam and participated in many of his works such as (Hanafi Al-Abha), series (Dreams of the Flying Boy) and (Hidden Worlds) and the play (Al-Wad Sayed Al-Shaghal) and (The Leader) .
Among the most prominent TV series (Hind and Dr. Numan), (Awan Al Ward), (Tamer and Shawkeya), (Nouna Al-Mazouna), (The Family of Hajj Metwally) and (Sherbat Luz), (Diary of a sprawling wife Awi) and (in the blink of an eye) and ( The Oblivion Game), which was her last work in the last month of Ramadan.
