Damascus:The consortium of the Water Transmission Company (WTCO) and Acwa Power convened in Damascus to discuss the implementation of a tripartite agreement with the Syrian Ministry of Energy. This meeting focused on activating the agreement's provisions and developing a plan to enhance water sector projects in Syria.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the agreement primarily aims to conduct preliminary feasibility studies to assess Syria's water resources, determine water requirements, and evaluate the potential for seawater desalination alongside the use of surface and groundwater resources. These studies are intended to facilitate the development of integrated water desalination and transmission projects, with capacities reaching up to 1.2 million cubic meters per day and transmission networks spanning approximately 400 kilometers.
The meeting also involved reviewing the work plan, confirming the agreement's objectives and timeline, and discussing task allocation and communication strategies among consortium members and other consulting and implementing entities involved.
