Riyadh: More than 9,700 volunteers contributed 138,560 hours in the first ten days of Ramadan through field initiatives organized by the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing in the municipal and housing sectors.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the ministry said volunteer efforts included organizing sites for the Jood Housing initiative and serving more than 2,500 beneficiaries, helping streamline housing support procedures and accelerate their delivery. Volunteers also distributed 12,000 iftar meals on roads and in public parks to ensure beneficiaries had timely access during the blessed month.
The initiatives also involved conducting more than 3,000 field surveys to measure residents' satisfaction with municipal services, supporting ongoing development efforts, improving operational efficiency, and strengthening communication channels with the community.
The ministry stressed that volunteer work in the municipal and housing sectors represents a key pathway for enhancing community participation and empowering national talent by organizing volunteer opportunities and measuring their impact. These efforts help entrench a culture of shared responsibility and strengthen integration between government entities and society.
The initiatives come as an extension of social responsibility and non-profit sector development programs, in line with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 to support volunteerism and increase its contribution to national development.
