Riyadh: The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's railway network achieved record-breaking results in the third quarter of 2024, transporting 8,964,592 passengers on both urban and intercity routes-a figure representing an 18% increase compared to the same period in 2023. Of these, urban trains carried 6,072,813 passengers, while intercity trains transported 2,891,779 passengers. According to Saudi Press Agency, freight transport also experienced significant growth, with trains moving 7,849,993 tons of goods and minerals, marking a 20% increase over Q3 of 2023. As a safe and efficient transportation option, the railway network contributes to reducing carbon emissions, enhancing quality of life, and serving as a primary transport mode for major industries. These accomplishments support the Kingdom's Vision 2030 and the National Strategy for Transport and Logistics, emphasizing the railway system's pivotal role in sustainable development.
