61st Meeting of Directors General of Customs for North Africa and Middle East Region Convenes in Cairo

Cairo: The 61st meeting of Directors General of Customs for the North of Africa, Near, and Middle East Region was held on Sunday at the headquarters of the Secretariat General of the Arab League in Cairo, with the participation of heads and directors of customs authorities and their representatives.



According to Saudi Press Agency, the Saudi delegation was led by the Vice Governor of the Zakat, Tax, and Customs Authority (ZATCA) for Strategy and Trade Facilitation, Eng. Abdullah bin Ahmed Al-Funtukh. The meeting focused on the strategic importance of customs operations in economic development and security.



Assistant Secretary General and Head of the Economic Affairs Sector at the Arab League, Ambassador Dr. Ali bin Ibrahim Al-Maliki, delivered a speech emphasizing that the theme of World Customs Day 2025, launched by the World Customs Organization (WCO)-“Customs Delivering on Its Commitment to Efficiency, Security, and Prosperity”-will positively influence customs authorities in implementing various measures to achieve these goals. He highlighted that the customs sector is a fundamental pillar of national economies.



The meeting discussed several topics on its agenda, aiming to enhance regional cooperation and improve the efficiency of customs procedures across the participating countries.
