5.5 Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Depths of Papua New Guinea

Riyadh: An earthquake measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale struck Papua New Guinea, the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) reported. The seismic event occurred at a depth of 198 kilometres (118 miles) beneath the Earth's surface.

According to Saudi Press Agency, there were no immediate reports of damage or injuries following the earthquake. The situation continues to be monitored for any further developments or aftershocks.
