An earthquake measuring 4.2 on the Richter scale hit the Aegean Sea, off the coast of Mugla Province, southwestern Turkiye on Monday. The earthquake occurred 195.27 km from the province's Datca area at a depth of 9.65 km, the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) said in a statement, broadcasted by Anadolu Agency. Turkiye, located on a major seismic fault line, witnessed a devastating earthquake on Feb. 6, 2023, which claimed the lives of more than 50,000 people and caused major damage to infrastructure in several states in the country, in addition to thousands of injuries.
