Algiers: The 38th Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union Conference concluded its sessions in the Algerian capital, Algiers, with the participation of a delegation from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia led by Speaker of the Shura Council Sheikh Dr. Abdullah Al Al-Sheikh. The conference was attended by heads of parliaments and councils, heads of delegations, and several regional and international organizations and institutions.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the union praised the efforts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, under the leadership of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Royal Highness, Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister in supporting the Palestinian cause.
In its final statement, the union welcomed Saudi Arabia's hosting of Russian-U.S. talks in Riyadh, describing it as a significant Arab contribution to global peace efforts and the search for a resolution to the Russia-Ukraine crisis, which has had wide-ranging negative repercussions on global stability and prosperity.
The statement reaffirmed the unwavering stance and full support of the heads of parliaments and councils for the Palestinian cause.
It also expressed the union's strong support for the unified Arab position that has consistently rejected all forms of displacement of the Palestinian people-whether from or within their land-under any pretext, circumstance, justification, or claim, considering such actions a grave violation of international law, a crime against humanity, and an act of ethnic cleansing.
The union called for coordinated Arab parliamentary and diplomatic efforts in regional and international forums to mobilize the broadest possible support for granting the State of Palestine full membership in the United Nations, viewing it as a fundamental step toward affirming the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.
