3 killed, 32 injured in hospital fire in Cairo’s Al-Matariya

Three people were killed and 32 were injured as a fire broke out in Cairo’s Al-Matariya district on Wednesday, the Ministry of Health announced in a statement, citing preliminary data.

The fire broke out in the radiology department of the hospital. According to reports, the afflicted hospital is Al-Nour Al-Mohammadi hospital in Al-Massala square of the populous Al-Matariya district.

A total of 12 ambulances rushed to the scene and 14 of the injured were moved to different hospitals, the ministry said.

Meanwhile, first aid services were provided to four of the injured as they did not need to be moved to the hospital.

Minister of Health Khaled Abdel Ghaffar is following up on the developments of the fire to make sure that all the required medical services are provided to the injured, the statement said.

He affirmed the availability of all medicines and blood bags of various types, noting that the number of the injured was determined based on the preliminary data.
