10 Key Roadways Connect Hajj Pilgrims from Eight Nations

Riyadh: The Roads General Authority (RGA) has unveiled a network of 10 key routes designed to facilitate the journeys of Hajj pilgrims from eight neighboring countries.

According to Saudi Press Agency, these crucial roadways underscore Saudi Arabia’s dedication to providing a safe and comfortable pilgrimage experience, supported by cutting-edge technology and skilled human resources.

The RGA has meticulously developed these routes in accordance with international standards, integrating advanced safety systems to ensure smooth traffic flow for pilgrims traveling from across the region. From the east, routes serve pilgrims from Gulf states, including Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and Bahrain, each with specified pathways leading to Makkah.

From the north, pilgrims from Jordan and Iraq have designated routes, while from the south, Yemeni travelers follow a comprehensive path. Pilgrims from Oman, on the other hand, undertake the longest journey, traversing the Al-Rub’ Al-Khali (Empty Quarter) road.

Ahead of the Hajj season, the RGA has performed extensive inspections and road maintenance, ensuring adherence to the highest safety and quality standards. These efforts align with the International Road Assessment Programme (iRAP) and contribute to Saudi Arabia’s road sector goals, aiming to enhance road quality globally and reduce traffic fatalities, thereby ensuring a secure Hajj journey for all pilgrims.
