RIYADH: Portuguese football star Cristiano Ronaldo, currently playing for Saudi Pro League club Al-Nassr, has stated that the 2034 World Cup, to be hosted by Saudi Arabia, will surpass previous tournaments in historical significance and quality.
According to Saudi Press Agency, Ronaldo expressed his enthusiasm following Saudi Arabia’s successful bid to host the 2034 World Cup, announced at FIFA’s extraordinary Congress session. He praised the Kingdom’s infrastructure, stadiums, and fan experience, emphasizing the importance of collective growth not only in football but across various life domains.
Ronaldo also highlighted Saudi Arabia’s increasing prominence on the global stage, noting the nation’s capacity to host major sporting and entertainment events annually, such as football matches and boxing events. He described the country’s future as promising and expressed his personal excitement at being part of its achievements, affirming his intention to witness the World Cup in person.
