Geneva: Speaker of the Shura Council Sheikh Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Al-Sheikh chaired the coordination meeting of the Arab Group at the level of parliamentary speakers, held on the sidelines of the 151st Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) currently taking place in Geneva.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the Shura Council speaker welcomed the Arab parliamentary speakers and participating delegations at the outset of the meeting. He expressed his hope that the meeting would enhance coordination of Arab stances on topics included in the assembly’s agenda in a manner that serves the interests and causes of the Arab nation.
The meeting reviewed the report presented by the representative of the Arab Group in the Executive Committee of the IPU on the committee’s work. It also discussed requests to include urgent or additional items on the agenda of the assembly. Additionally, the meeting examined the nominations of the Arab Group for vacant seats in the IPU’s standing and subsidiary committees, approving the selection of Shura Council Member Dr. Reema Al-Yahya as a member of the Standing Committee on United Nations Affairs.
