Saudi Weightlifting Teams Dominate Arab Championships and Qatar Cup 2024

DOHA: The Saudi weightlifting teams have emerged victorious, securing first place across all categories in the Arab weightlifting championships for juniors, youth, and seniors, both men and women, as well as the Qatar Cup 2024. The competitions concluded yesterday in Qatar, featuring over 163 male and female weightlifters from 30 different nations.



According to Saudi Press Agency, the Saudi men’s team achieved a remarkable haul of 68 gold, 19 silver, and 7 bronze medals across the Arab Championship and Qatar Cup. The Saudi women’s team, participating for the first time, also made a strong showing by winning 18 gold, 20 silver, and 27 bronze medals. This historic performance marked a significant milestone in Saudi Arabia’s weightlifting history.



Saudi weightlifter Abdullah Al-Muhaimeed received the award for “Best Young Player” in both the Arab Championship and the Qatar Cup 2024. Al-Muhaimeed’s performance was notable as he excelled across various weight categories, outperforming many seasoned lifters.



Mohammed Al-Harbi, President of the Saudi Weightlifting Federation, expressed his joy at the teams’ achievements, highlighting the athletes’ exceptional performance amidst fierce competition. Al-Harbi noted that the Saudi athletes’ accomplishments were widely praised, reflecting their dedication and skill in the sport.
