Rahi, Egyptian Ambassador discuss regional situation
Maronite Patriarch, Mar Bechara Boutros Rahi, met on Tuesday in Bkirki with the Egyptian Ambassador to Lebanon, Nazih Al-Najari, who said "this visit is an opportunity, albeit being regular, to listen to the Patriarch's stances and assessment of the situation in Lebanon."
"Egypt believes that Lebanon is on the right track, with the recent election of a president, the formation of a government and the rebuilding of institutions," the ambassador said.
"We agree with the Patriarch on the impact of the regional developments on all countries, and we stress the importance of stabilizing the regional situation through political solutions and ending the regional conflicts in a manner contributing to the rebuilding of the regional economy, which will benefit Lebanon and Egypt and all the States that seek stability," he concluded.
Patriarch Rahi also met with former deputy governor of the Central Bank who praised the "great efforts made by Rahi in order to maintain the stability of the country and guarantee the re-launching of institutional work."
The Patriarch also held a meeting with a delegation of the International Organization "NOHE" headed by Charbel Kabalan, with talks touching on the activities of this Brazilian organization which is spread across 80 countries around the world, including Lebanon. NOHE is concerned with the defense of human rights and the promotion of public freedoms.
