RIYADH: The General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) has introduced a comprehensive Statistical Quality Assurance Framework aimed at standardizing the collection, processing, and dissemination of official statistics across Saudi Arabia. This initiative underscores the Kingdom’s commitment to align with international standards in statistical practices.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the framework is grounded in the foundational principles of official statistics as laid out by the United Nations and is consistent with the UN’s Quality Assurance Framework. It also integrates regulations specific to GASTAT in Saudi Arabia, ensuring a tailored approach to the nation’s statistical needs.
The framework is structured around four key levels: statistical system management, institutional environment management, statistical processes, and statistical products. Each level encompasses 18 principles which are further divided into various standards and methods designed to ensure adherence to these principles.
GASTAT ha
s made the framework accessible to a wide audience by publishing it on its official website in both Arabic and English. This availability is intended to assist statistics professionals, researchers, government and private institutions, as well as individuals with an interest in the field.
GASTAT encourages those interested to explore the framework in detail by visiting its website at www.stats.gov.sa. Additionally, the agency is open to inquiries and requests for further information, which can be directed to its representatives via phone at (199009) or through email at customer support (info@stats.gov.sa).
