RIYADH: The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is set to host the FIFA World Cup in 2034, marking a significant milestone in its Vision 2030 initiative to become a global hub for sports, tourism, and cultural exchange. This ambitious endeavor aims to transform the Kingdom into a premier destination for international events by leveraging its geographical diversity and rich cultural heritage.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the tournament will be hosted across five major cities-Riyadh, Jeddah, Al-Khobar, Abha, and NEOM City-each offering unique experiences for participants and audiences. Riyadh, the administrative and financial capital, is already preparing for other major events, including the 2027 AFC Asian Cup and the 2030 World Expo. Meanwhile, Jeddah, known for its historic district and coastal beauty, continues to serve as a major commercial and tourist hub.
Al-Khobar, with its strategic location in the Eastern Region, provides a mix of cultural and tourist attractions, while Abha’s rich tourism legacy and distin
ct climate make it a key player in the event. NEOM City, a futuristic development project, embodies the Kingdom’s commitment to innovation and sustainability under Vision 2030.
Beyond these primary host cities, the World Cup will also spotlight other notable destinations throughout Saudi Arabia. Cities like Al-Baha, Jazan, Taif, and Madinah offer a wealth of cultural and natural attractions, from UNESCO World Heritage sites to breathtaking landscapes. AlUla and Umluj Governorates, along with the cities of Tabuk, Hail, Al-Ahsa, and Buraidah, will further enrich the visitor experience with their historical significance and natural beauty.
