Bassil from Cairo: Arab world, Europe confront same challenges
Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Gebran Bassil said that "the Arab World and Europe are facing the same challenges and problems and at the top is terrorism".
Bassil's words came at the Fourth Conference of Foreign Ministers of the Arab States and European countries in Cairo.
He offered condolences to the countries that have witnessed terrorist operations, particularly Egypt, Jordan, Turkey, Russia and Germany.
Bassil called on the world to unite to preserve the region and the world from terrorism.
On the other hand, he said that stability will prevail over Lebanon after the election of President Michel Aoun and the formation of the new cabinet.
Bassil touched on the Syrian crisis, confirming that it influenced stability in the region.
"The Syrian crisis causes existential challenges on Lebanon in all sectors, and heavy economic losses," the minister added.
Bassil called for a political solution to the Syrian crisis so that the refugees would be able to return to their homeland.
